ExtenZe Racing Sprint Showdown All-Star Race Recap

Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway, 1.5-mile oval, Charlotte, North Carolina

Kevin Conway, No. 37 ExtenZe Ford Team

Starting Position: 4

Finishing Position: 18

Leading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year contender Kevin Conway enjoyed a fourth-place starting position for his first career Sprint Showdown race after qualifying was cancelled due to rain (Note: the field was determined by the qualifying draw where Conway drew fourth.) But once the green flag dropped, the No. 37 ExtenZe Racing Ford got shuffled into traffic quickly.  From there, Conway battled some loose and tight conditions throughout both segments of the 40-lap event and finished the race in the 18th position.

Next up for Conway and the No. 37 ExtenZe Racing team is the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 30 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Comments from ExtenZe Racing Team Driver Kevin Conway after the Sprint Showdown:

“It was really intense.  They made an ExtenZe sandwich out of me (at the start of the race).  Everything we do is big and that was definitely big.  The 32 got us real loose there and we were just struggling with the set-up.  We were really loose in on entry, really plowing tight center and loose off.

“I know the whole ExtenZe Racing Team will work really hard this week and we’ll get a much better package to come back for the Coke 600 and continue to add to our Raybestos Rookie points lead.”
