Las Vegas Man Becomes Honorary Crew Chief for NASCAR Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Program Celebrates Those Who Go to Great Lengths to Make a Difference in Their Communities
Brian Morace Saved Two People and Property with His Selfless Persistence
STATESVILLE, NC (Feb. 23, 2010) - Because of his bravery in saving neighbors from a condominium fire, ExtenZe Racing will honor Las Vegas resident Brian Morace, 37, as an ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ and give him the rare privilege of being an Honorary Crew Chief atthis weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The ‘ExtenZe Local Hero‘ program pays tribute to local heroes who have gone to great lengths to make a difference. Those people selected have faced danger, sacrificed their own safety for others or in some way displayed leadership that changed their community for the better. Each recipient receives a $1,000 award from ExtenZe, the world’s best selling male enhancement product, in recognition of the individual’s selflessness.

Each of these people has really put themselves on the line and I can do no less in their presence. While at home for lunch on Jan. 27, Morace’s wife asked that he check on a next-door neighbor because the faint sound of an alarm had been coming from the condo unit for a while. He knocked on the neighbor’s window with no response, and then knocked on the door. A moment later, the woman inside cracked open the door and smoke billowed out. Morace could see the woman’s face was caked with soot, but she tried to close the door to keep him out.
Unsettled, he barged through the door and saw the woman’s 6-year-old son sitting on the living room floor, his face also covered in soot. Morace found a charred, smoldering blanket on the kitchen floor, made sure it was completely extinguished, and began opening windows to clear smoke from the room. The fire department was called and Morace pulled both the woman and child from the smoky unit, and kept the distraught and wide-eyed female homeowner at bay until authorities arrived.
Police later learned the woman used the gas stove to light the blanket on fire in an alleged attempt to cause harm to both herself and the child. Morace’s intervention saved the life of that young boy, his mother, and spared other condo residents from loss of property or life due to an out-of-control inferno.
Also paying tribute to the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program is ExtenZe national spokesman, Jimmy Johnson, who led the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl in 1993 and 1994 and is currently a commentator on Fox NFL Sunday and the NFL Pre-game Show.

Morace will be presented with his recognition check on Sunday by Kevin Conway before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, and will then join Crew Chief Peter Sospenzo on the pit box. They will lend support to Conway while he is piloting the royal blue and red No. 37 ExtenZe Ford.
