ExtenZe Racing & NEMCO Motorsports to Assist the Miami-Dade Police Department in the Unsolved Homicide Case of Coral Gables Police Officer Walter Stathers

CHARLOTTE, NC (Nov. 14, 2011) – As part of the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program, 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver Kevin Conway is stepping up to assist the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) in the unsolved homicide case of Coral Gables Police Officer Walter Stathers. Conway’s No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota will carry an image of Officer Stathers along with MDPD contact information on the car’s deck lid for the Ford 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday, November 19, 2011.

On, December 19, 1967, at 4:15 a.m. ET, Officer Stathers was on duty patrolling the residential neighborhood south of US1 and came across a prowler at 700 South Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables. Officer Stathers called over the radio for a K-9 officer to meet him at that location. Upon the arrival of the K-9 officer approximately 10 minutes later, Officer Stathers was found in the side yard of the residence with a gunshot wound to his head. Officer Stathers patrol car was located towards the rear of the residence and had struck a wall/porch area in the yard. Two witnesses saw a young, thin black male who fled southbound on a bicycle just after hearing the shot(s).

Officer Stathers was 44 years old and had been a police officer for eighteen years with the Coral Gables PD. He was married with one son in high school when he was killed. His widow passed away about two months ago.

ExtenZe Racing & NEMCO Motorsports to Assist the Concord Police Department in the Unsolved Double Homicide Case of Donna Barnhardt & Darrell Noles

CHARLOTTE, NC (Oct. 10, 2011) – As part of the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program, 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver Kevin Conway is stepping up to assist the Concord Police Department (CPD) in the unsolved double homicide case of Donna Barnhardt and Darrell Noles. Conway’s No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota will carry an image of Barnhardt and Noles along with CPD contact and reward information on the car’s deck lid for the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, October 14, 2011.

At approximately 10:00 AM Friday June 13, 2008, Donna Barnhardt and Darrell Noles were murdered during an apparent robbery attempt at the Sundrop Bottling Company on Branchview Drive in Concord, NC. Barnhardt was an employee at the bottling company and Noles was there to apply for a job. Both victims were shot in the office area of the business. Police are still looking for the person or persons responsible this violent crime. Rewards of up to $85,000 are being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

“This was a senseless crime committed and a case where we believe the victims were just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Concord Police Department’s Chief Guy Smith. “The person or persons responsible must be brought to justice. We are hoping someone will see this race car carrying the image of Donna Barnhardt and Darrell Noles on TV or in the news and it will trigger someone to come forward to give us the missing information we need to solve this case. We think it is tremendous what Kevin Conway, ExtenZe Racing and NEMCO Motorsports are doing to assist us in this case and can’t thank them enough.”

ExtenZe Racing & NEMCO Motorsports to Assist the Joliet Police Department in the Unsolved Hit & Run Homicide Case of Melissa Lech

CHARLOTTE, NC (Sept. 13, 2011) – As part of the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program, 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver Kevin Conway is stepping up to assist the Joliet Police Department (JPD) Investigation Division in the unsolved hit and run homicide case of Melissa Lech. Conway’s No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota will carry the images of Lech along with JPD contact information on the car’s deck lid for the Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Lech was a 20-year-old University of Illinois student home on summer break in August of 2008. On Wed., Aug 6 of that year she attended a White Sox game and afterwards hung out with friends at a local restaurant. In the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2008 Lech left the establishment on foot. A short time later she was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle last seen traveling East bound on McDonough Street just west of Infantry Drive. The offending vehicle never stopped. Joliet Police received a 911 call by a citizen who arrived on the scene and found Melissa. There were no direct eye witnesses but several witnesses arrived on-scene shortly after the incident and were interviewed in-depth. Several vehicles have also been examined for any trace evidence.
The JPD continues to prioritize this investigation, working diligently to bring this investigation to an end and help Melissa’s family and friends find closure.

“This was a tragic crime committed against a young girl who had a bright future ahead of her,” said Joliet Police Department Interim Chief Michael P. Trafton. “The person responsible must be brought to justice. We are hoping someone will see this race car carrying the image of Melissa Lech on TV or in the news and it will trigger someone to come forward to give us the missing information we need to solve this case. We think it is tremendous what Kevin Conway, ExtenZe Racing and NEMCO Motorsports are doing to assist us in this case and can’t thank them enough.”

ExtenZe Racing & NEMCO Motorsports to Assist the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department in the Unsolved Murder Case of James Hutson

CHARLOTTE, NC (August 23, 2011) – As part of the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program, 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver Kevin Conway is stepping up to assist the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) in the unsolved Kingsport, Tenn. murder case of James Hutson. Conway’s No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota will carry the images of Hutson along with SCSD contact information on the car’s deck lid for the Food City 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 26, 2011.

In the early morning hours of September 6, 1997 officers with the SCSD responded to a home on Rock Springs Road in Kingsport. The caller, Mary Lou Hutson, James’ mother, advised dispatchers that a man had raped her and stabbed her son. When officers arrived at the home they found 17 year old James Hutson dead with stab wounds all over his body. Mary Lou Hutson survived the incident but passed away about a year after her son’s death. Since her rape and the murder of her son detectives have spent countless hours following numerous leads, but those leads have not panned out. James also left behind a brother and two sisters whom all hope and pray for closure one day soon.

“This case has eluded us for way too long,” said Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Bobby Russell. “We are coming up on the 14th anniversary of this case and are hoping someone will see this race car carrying the image of James Hutson on TV or in the news and will come forward to give us the missing information we need to solve this case. We think it is tremendous what ExtenZe Racing and NEMCO Motorsports are doing to assist us in this case and can’t thank them enough.”

Detectives are hoping someone out there will step forward and provide them with the missing information they need to help lead them to the person responsible for raping Mary Lou Hutson and murdering James Hutson. CHARLOTTE, NC (June 28, 2011) – As part of the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ program, 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver Kevin Conway and teammate/owner Joe Nemechek are stepping up to assist the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) in the Diane and Tammy Hollins missing mother/daughter persons case. Conway’s No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota will carry the images of Diane while teammate/owner Nemecheck’s No. 97 Extenze Toyota will carry the images of Tammy along with DBPD contact information on the cars respective deck lids for the SUBWAY Jalapeno 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway on July 1, 2011.

Diane, who was 31 and Tammy, who was 14 at the time they went missing, were last seen by a neighbor on June 9, 1979 at approximately 6 a.m. ET walking down the street away from their house in the 500 block of Park Drive toward the railroad tracks. Even after all these years there has never been any type of clothing description given for either of them. Diane never showed up for work and Tammy never showed up to school that day.

“This case has been a real mystery to us,” said Steve Beres, Deputy Chief of Police, Daytona Beach Police Department. “Other than the neighbor who last saw Diane and Tammy, this is a case where there were really no witnesses and very limited information on the missing persons. Hopefully someone will see these racecars carrying the images of the Hollins’ and come forward and give us some long awaited information to help solve this case. We think it is tremendous what ExtenZe Racing and NEMCO Motorsports are doing to help us in this case.”
